Backdrop Making

April 20, 2017

I've just finished making my own backdrop for an upcoming photoshoot. I needed something light but with a subtle texture, almost like a plastered wall. Here is how I did it:

- Canvas sheet

- Acrylic paint (5 different colours)

- paint roller and tray

- sponge

There isn't a set recipe for making backdrops. It's all about layering different tones until you're happy with the result. I started with a good layer of white paint using the paint roller then used the sponge to dab on four different tones (light grey, buttermilk, sand and fawn). Finally I finished off with a sponge dabbing layer of white again.
